S Rose St Sidewalk Repair
Updated: November 19, 2024
What's happening now?
We’re happy to announce that the construction to repair the sidewalks on both sides of S Rose St, between 48th and 50th avenues is expected to begin on before the end of this year. Once underway, the project is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Typical work hours are from 7 AM to 5 PM.
- Expect noise, dust, vibrations, and some equipment staging during construction hours.
- Parking will not be available on the north side of the street during and after construction.
- During this work, the driveway entrances of some properties will be rebuild, temporarily restricting entry and exit. We will send you a notification in advance to inform you when this work will take place.
Project Overview
S Rose St between 48th Ave S and 50th Ave S is a residential street in Rainier Valley. The street has sidewalks on both sides, but the sidewalks are in disrepair. Vehicles frequently park in the planting strip and block the sidewalk. This project will include the following improvements:
- Repair existing sidewalk on both sides of S Rose St between 48th Ave S and 50th Ave S
- New planting strip on the north side of S Rose St between 48th Ave S and 50th Ave S
- New curb ramps at S Rose St and 49th Ave S
- Parking will be restricted on the north side of S Rose St to provide space for the planting strip and keep the sidewalk clear for people walking and rolling
- Parking will be maintained on the south side of S Rose St and new parking spaces will be added near 50th Ave S
Once complete, the project will connect to new sidewalks west of 48th Ave S and east of 50th Ave S, providing safer, more accessible sidewalks for people of all ages and abilities. It will also prevent vehicles from blocking the sidewalks, improving both the overall look and usability of the street for everyone in the community.
