Morgan Junction Park Addition
Updated: January 13, 2025
Early 2025
Work on removing the hazardous soil from the new parcel, formerly used as a dry cleaner, began in 2024. This work included demolition of the existing concrete and asphalt, installation of temporary shoring, and excavation to remove the lens of dry-cleaning solvents. Clean fill is being imported, to be followed by topsoil, temporary irrigation, and grass. Currently, the team is working through some new permitting issues before project phase completion.
The design and permitting work for the addition project continues. Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is working with community partner Morgan Junction All Wheels Association (MJAWA) to integrate an all-wheels skate-dot into the project. MJAWA working with Grindline Skateparks has gathered community input on potential designs. SPR and MJAWA will work towards integrating the skate-dot into the larger project for permitting and construction.
