Dearborn Park Play Area Renovation

Updated: January 5, 2023

Early 2023

Thank you to everyone who came to the open house and recently e-mailed to share your support for this project.

We have taken your information and ideas and we are preparing the project for an open public bid this winter.

We heard a preference for nature play, a stronger connection to the surrounding wooded area, and the need to create a safer environment. Based on this, we developed the following concepts.

The project is approaching 100% design currently.

Location

Dearborn Park: 2919 S Brandon Street, 98108

Budget

The Real Estate Excise Tax fund provides $557,000 for planning, design, and construction of the project.

Schedule

Planning & Design: Spring 2020 - Winter 2022/2023
Construction: Late Spring 2023

Project Description

This project replaces the play equipment with equipment that is accessible to children of all abilities. Additionally, site accessibility improvements that meet the standards from the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will be made.

During construction the contractor will need to close the play area portion of the park. Seattle Parks and Recreation and the contractor hired for the project will work to minimize impact to the neighborhood.
