Carkeek Park Playground Renovation

This project will replace the existing play area and make accessibility improvements to the pathway from the parking lot to the play area. This project will use synthetic safety surfacing in the play area. If necessary, this project will also hire an artist to repaint the Salmon Slide. All improvements will meet accessibility and stormwater requirements.
This project has been delayed and is now expected to complete construction in 2025. Further opportunities for public input on designs will be announced in summer 2024.
This project's scope has been expanded and will now include an internal renovation of the comfort station building to meet all current accessibility requirements.

Budget
$900,000 (Funding source: REET I) for playground construction
$70,000 (Seattle Park District) for comfort station renovation design. Funds for construction of comfort station improvements will be identified in 2023

The play area will be closed throughout construction.
