Timekeeping and Records

The Office of Labor Standards encourages you to keep all written documents that show your pay, working conditions, and service agreements for at least three years.

It’s a best practice (and sometimes required by law) for the household or business to keep these records, but we encourage you also to do so. Keeping these records gives you the information you need to ensure that your rights are being respected, to follow up with the household or business, or seek help to enforce your rights. If you decide you wanted to file a complaint about a potential violation of your rights, these records are important in the investigation process.
