Green Rides Ahead: Achieving 100% Emission-Free Shared Mobility in Seattle by 2030

Seattle commits to a future where shared mobility solutions, including bikes, scooters, taxis, and ride-sharing services, operate entirely on zero-emission technology. This goal recognizes the expanding role of shared mobility in urban transportation and aims to ensure these services contribute positively to the city's environmental goals. By transitioning to electric and emissions-free options, Seattle seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation, improve air quality, and provide cleaner, sustainable travel options for its residents and visitors.

Progress

Seattle launched Washington’s first-ever electric van share in June 2023, which is accessible in alignment with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Seattleites also took 4.8 million rides on electric-assisted scooters and bikes in 2023, surpassing the City’s goal of 4 million rides!

Staff from City Light and SDOT staff celebrate the launch of an ADA-accessible electric vanshare program hosted by Estelita’s Library.
