2025 Levy Renewal

The Department of Education and Early Learning (DEEL) is committed to fostering a bright future for all students in our community. We are preparing to renew the Families, Education, Preschool, and Promise (FEPP) levy in 2025. Learn more about the process below.

Process

Levy Renewal Timeline

  • Q3 2024 - DEEL engagement existing grantees

  • Q4 2024 - Q1 2025- Broader community conversations

  • Q2 2025 - Transmittal of Mayor’s proposal to Council

  • Q2 2025 - Legislative process

  • Q3 2025 - Ballot referendum submitted to City Council Elections

  • Q4 2025 - Voters consider proposed Levy

Throughout 2024, DEEL will engage with community and stakeholders to develop investment proposals for the next levy. In early 2025, the Mayor will transmit a proposed levy package to City Council for consideration. City Council must adopt the proposal by summer 2025 in order to appear on voter’s ballots in November 2025. Community engagement throughout this process both with DEEL and during the legislative process is encouraged.

Stakeholder Engagement

DEEL is actively engaging with providers and program leadership to discuss what we have learned from the current levy and how we can best meet the educational needs of children, youth, and families in the next levy. Your feedback is essential in this process.

Join us in shaping the future of City investments by participating in our engagement activities. Visit our website and engagement calendar to learn more about upcoming events, provide feedback, and stay informed about the levy renewal planning process.
