Project Description
Seattle City Light crews will be working on Blanchard Street to install new underground conduits and a handhole. This work is needed to maintain reliability for the streetlight system along this area.
Location
Construction will occur on Blanchard Street (between 8th and Westlake avenues) in Seattle's Denny Triangle neighborhood
What's Happening Now?
Project Update (June 2022): This project is on hold due to engineering design changes. City Light will re-notify customers once a new construction start date has been determined.

Anticipated Impacts
- Crews will trench for new underground conduits and a handhole.
- Customers can expect parking, sidewalk, and traffic impacts within the work zone. Construction signage and traffic control flaggers will redirect pedestrians and vehicles where needed.
- City Light will be performing this work under a noise variance permit. Customers can expect some noise due to heavy machinery, trucks, and other equipment.
- The bus layover lane on the south side of Blanchard Street, between 8th and Westlake avenues will be closed during construction.
- Start Date: June 7, 2022
- Duration: Approximately two weeks
- Daily Work Hours: 9 a.m to 3 p.m.
