Take the One Less Car Challenge!

Ever thought about shedding a car, or wish you could try it for awhile to see how it goes? You’ve come to the right place! The City of Seattle’s One Less Car Challenge is building and connecting a community of people who want to save money, reduce stress and help the environment by living with one less car!

We provide personal, one-on-one support as you learn how to get around by bus, bike, foot or carpool; as well as some great incentives.

Our supply of program incentives is limited and will be available on a first come first serve basis in 2009. If your heart is set on participating we encourage you to sign up soon.

There are two levels of participation you can choose from:

• Level 1 – Trial separation from your car! If you commit to not drive your car for a month, you will earn incentives such as a $20 Commuter Voucher to use towards a bus pass or ticketbook, or biking and walking gear from REI. And you may just prove to yourself you don't need that car after all! Make sure to review our eligibility requirements and what to expect for Level 1 before signing up.

• Level 2 – Break up with your car! If you sell your car and commit to not replacing it for a year, you get even bigger incentives including a $200 Commuter Voucher to use towards a bus pass or ticketbook, or biking and walking gear from REI; a $100 discount for a subscription to Tiny’s Organic; and free memberships to the Cascade Bicycle Club and Bicycle Alliance of Washington.
