West Seattle 5K Run/Walk and Alki Seattle Summer Streets
It’s everybody’s street. Imagine the possibilities.

Tell your neighbors, tell your friends! Sunday, May 20 is a party along Alki! Want to participate in Summer Streets? Fill out our exhibitor application by April 1. Also, registration for the West Seattle 5K Run/Walk opens February 1.

2011 Event

We had a great time playing on Alki Avenue in 2011. Continue reading to learn what we did and get inspired for 2012.

From 9 to 11 AM:
Alki Avenue SW will be fully closed from 63rd Avenue SW to the Don Armeni Boat Launch Ramp for the 5K run/walk. All parking will be restricted from 63rd to 56th and along the waterside from 56th to the boat ramp.

From 9 AM to 5 PM:
Alki Avenue SW will be fully closed from 63rd Avenue SW to 56th Avenue SW for the 5K run/walk and then the Summer Streets Party. Parking will be restricted on both sides of the street during this time.

Participate in the West Seattle 5K Run/Walk in the morning, sponsored by West Seattle High School PTSA. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. and the race starts at 9:20 a.m. Register online by 6 p.m. on May 19.
 
Starting at 11 a.m., come join the fun:

Don't miss Coastal and Hansen’s surf machine and skate ramp!

  • The Celtic Swell will be opening early at 9 a.m. to offer their homemade brunch and are sponsoring Irish Dancers on the Live Entertainment stage.
  • Take part in pedestrian safety games hosted by Feet First volunteers.
  • Watch Ultimate Frisbee by Skate Church teens and demonstrations by Alki Tae Kwon Do.
  • The Seattle Fire Department will make a special stop with their fire truck.

Here’s a sneak peak of other things the ACC has lined up:

  • Activities—Face art, Henna tattoo, pet massages, children’s photography
  • Community Groups—Seal Sitters, Whale Trail, Sustainable West Seattle, Be Prepared, Alki Community Council, Alki Art Fair , Skate Church, Breath Deep Seattle, Family Promise, the Log House Museum, etc.
