ABOUT THE POOL

Mounger Pool has two great pools. The Big Pool has a 50-foot corkscrew slide, and the Little Pool, warmer and shallower, is great for relaxing and teaching your little tadpoles.

  • Big Pool: 5 lanes/ 25 yards (85 degrees)
  • Little Pool: Warm water teaching pool (94 degrees)

Deep Water Swim Test

To ensure the safety of children and youth using our pools, in order for swimmers younger than 18 to go into the deep end, Seattle Parks and Recreation requires a swim test. The test consists of swimming two widths of the pool. While crawl stroke is preferred, alternate methods of swimming can be acceptable if the child is swimming with the body in a prone position and is making good forward progress. For additional safety, the test may be more stringent if the pool is really crowded. Final determination is based on the judgment of the lifeguard on duty.

Alternately, the child can take the swim test using a personal flotation device (life jacket). Children who pass this modified test are allowed in the deep using a life jacket.
