Public-Private Partnership Review Panel to review
South Lake Union Redevelopment Project

SEATTLE — On May 24, 2001, the city’s Public-Private Partnership Review Panel (P4 Panel) will begin forming a recommendation on the city’s South Lake Union Redevelopment project. The meeting will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. in the Elliott Bay Room on the 15th floor of the Alaska Building, located at 618 Second Ave. in downtown Seattle.

This meeting is the fourth discussion in the Panel’s review of this project and it provides P4 panelists an opportunity to begin forming their recommendation on the project. Last week panelists were briefed on the city’s purchase and sale agreement for surplus city properties in South Lake Union. A public hearing will be held in June, during which panelists will formally present their recommendation to the City Council.

This P4 review focuses on the city’s process for disposal and redevelopment of surplus city properties in the South Lake Union area, which is subject to City Council approval. The proposed redevelopment relates to city projects in the area, including the acquisition of the Naval Reserve property, the development of South Lake Union Park, and transportation improvements in the Mercer-Valley corridor. See the project’s website for more information: http://www.cityofseattle.net/realestate/slu/slu.htm

The panel is part of the city’s process for reviewing public-private partnerships.
P4 Panelists provide expert review of public-benefits elements of certain public-private partnerships between the city and private or nonprofit entities.

For additional information, see the P4 website: http://cityofseattle.net/ppp/
