Connecting for Energy Solutions
Powerful Business, the popular one-day energy management conference, is returning on May 24th at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, Washington. The theme of the conference, Connecting for Energy Solutions, will focus on finding solutions that save energy and money, improve comfort, and enhance productivity in commercial facilities. The conference will be divided into four concurrent tracks:
- Operations & Maintenance
- Engineering
- New Design
- Energy Management
Presentations throughout the day will highlight operations & maintenance issues, high performance and green building design approaches, the latest in technology and practices in HVAC and lighting systems, as well as an entire energy management track focused on improving data gathering, benchmarking, and developing a business case for energy efficiency projects.

Plenary Session
Two plenary sessions are scheduled. At the opening plenary, the Directors of energy services at the three sponsoring utilities will discuss their program offerings as well as how each utility is working with their customers to implement successful efficiency projects. An after-lunch plenary will feature Mr. Randy Hardy, former Superintendent of Seattle City Light and Administrator of the Bonneville Power Administration. Now in private practice, Mr. Hardy will provide insight into the future of the energy industry. Facility and energy professionals will benefit from his insight as they grapple with the sometimes volatile electricity and natural gas markets.
Exhibitors
New to Powerful Business this year will be a trade ally tabletop exhibit room. Attendees will be able to visit vendors and other information and resource organizations throughout the day to get product and service information as well as tips and ideas for practical energy savings projects in their facilities. Utility sponsors Seattle City Light, Puget Sound Energy, and Snohomish County PUD will also have booths to answer customer questions and describe technical and financial assistance available for energy efficiency projects.
