Heidi Wills - The Positive Choice for Seattle City Council
We can address affordable housing.
We can invest in our neighborhoods and create safer communities.
We can work to reduce traffic.
We can protect our environment.
Heidi's family has a long history in Seattle dating back to her grandmother's work at Boeing during WWII as a "Rosie the Riveter." Heidi shares the "we can" spirit of the riveters.
Creating Affordable Housing
Heidi's family has seen Seattle go through many changes. Heidi's grandmother was forced to move out of her home because of rising property taxes. This experience has forged Heidi's commitment for more affordable housing. As former Chief of Staff to Councilmember Sullivan, Heidi has direct legislative experience on housing issues. She supports neighborhood planning and will work to maintain the livability of our neighborhoods.
Reducing Traffic
Heidi has a proven track record as a consensus-builder tackling difficult issues. When the University of Washington had a traffic problem, Heidi helped pushed through the U-Pass program which issues a bus pass to all UW students. Heidi has the experience to help solve traffic problems and will take this model to other sectors in the city.
Protecting Our Environment
Heidi is committed to protecting our environment. Her leadership was critical in creating the University's public recycling program. She led conservation workshops for children in Seattle Public Schools. As Special Assistant to Executive Sims, Heidi helped coordinate the Tri-County effort to protect Chinook salmon.
"I can think of no better candidate to fill my seat. The city needs a councilperson who will seriously manage the business of running the city government. Heidi is competent and intelligent, and she knows how to tackle complex problems."
