Dawn will listen, hear and respond with the right kind of experience ......

Work Experience, Community Leadership

  • Seattle Police Department and Seattle Public Utilities
  • Two Term Legislator Washington House of Representatives
  • Two decades of experience working in and out of elected office serving Seattle Neighborhoods
Dawn has been out in our neighborhoods listening to people and this is what she heard: The people of Seattle want:

  • Affordable housing,
  • A solution to traffic and good long range solutions to transportation
  • Economic development that will bring jobs, goods and services into our neighborhoods.
Close to 600 of Seattle's children are chronically homeless. Dawn worked in collaboration with city, state and Federal jurisdictions to bring more than 400 units of housing to our very poor, our seniors and first time homebuyers.

Only one of every five Seattle Residents use public transportation on a regular basis. Dawn has already begun the process of working to bring safe and fast mass transit solutions to neighborhoods. Dawn will increase ridership, route traffic off residential streets and unclog arterials.

We need an economic development strategy that will promote livable wage jobs in all areas of the city. Dawn is a co-convener of the University of Washington Business and Economic Development Program and along with students and faculty, worked with financial institutions such as Safeco Insurance, Starbucks and the Central Area Development Association and business leaders to create Promenade 23 into a successful model for neighborhood economic turnaround.

Seattle's Economy is Booming But Not Shared. Dawn will deliver on the promise made that the return on our investment of public funds will be used to bring vitality to all neighborhoods.

The Dawn Mason campaign is about a safe, healthy environment in which families and their children can live, work and enjoy urban living at its best.

Dawn is working hard with those who work hard every day and it shows:

  • Rated an "Outstanding" Legislator by the King County Municipal League in 1997
  • Legislator of the Year by Washington Student Lobby 1997
  • Woman of Achievement by the Women's Funding Alliance 1992
Endorsed By:
  • King County Labor Council,
  • Seattle Fire Fighters Union Local 27,
  • International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers, Local 17
  • Seattle Police Management Association,
  • Aerospac Machinists Industrial District Lodge 751
