I have the experience and the know-how that no other candidate for this job can claim. Both my record and breadth of experience show that when I make commitments, I deliver results! I'm proud to have served on the City Council before. During that time, I worked for the people of Seattle, bettering our city with tangible results such as building 5 new community centers, implementing employment programs, and expanding services for families. NOW I want to continue the work I've started and to complete the job that needs to be done for our city! My concrete ideas on the issues: AFFORDABLE HOUSING: Every family needs a roof! I will work to create rent-to-own programs for struggling families, to simplify building codes, and to help neighborhoods accommodate population growth with necessary infrastructure support such as sewage, drainage, and sidewalks. TRANSPORTATION: Gridlock must go! I will advocate for regional solutions to traffic congestion to prevent environmental damage, ensure that we retain the funds dedicated to neighborhoods for transit stations, NEIGHBORHOODS: Nurture our neighborhoods! I will aid neighborhood family-run businesses through improvement loans, safeguard public safety by increasing bicycle police squads, and set aside money in the city budget to make neighborhood plans a reality. EDUCATION: School to work! I will strengthen city/school partnerships, share facilities and fields, create youth mentoring programs to link kids with community and business role models, and expand city after-school programs for latch-key kids. I am a dynamic visionary leader with creative, concrete, practical solutions to the challenges our city faces. My proven results clearly show that I am the only candidate qualified to preserve the hard work of our parents, while at the same time, creating a bright future for our children.
